When schools think about creating better learning environments, furniture, technology, and flexible layouts often take center stage. But one of the most powerful tools for supporting student success is often overlooked: lighting.

Mission Hills High School launched a peer-to-peer counseling program and on-campus Wellness Center this year, giving students a safe space to connect and support one another. Backed by a $1.5 million state grant, the school is one of just eight statewide selected for a youth-driven mental health pilot. Designed and led by students, the program is already helping build a more connected, supportive campus culture.
